Monticello — WAYNE COUNTY FSA INFORMATIONAL MEETING

Wayne County Farm Service Agency will be holding an informational

meeting on Tuesday, November 17, beginning at 5 p.m. at the WC Extension

Office basement.

Topics to be addressed include Livestock Forage Disaster Program, NAP,

Farm Loans, and other information. Anyone interested in learning more about

BENEFIT FOR SUSAN GREGORY

Susan Gregory is 17 years old and has been diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma

in her left lung. There will be a benefit held Saturday, November 14. It

COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING SERVICE

Monticello United Methodist Church will be having "Community

Thanksgiving Service" on Sunday, November 22 at 7 p.m. An offering will be

received to help support the local Hope Center. Everyone is invited to

CHRISTMAS PARADE

The Monticello-Wayne County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce

the 39th Annual Christmas Parade to be held Friday, December 4.

This years' event will emphasize the theme "A Christmas Promise" and

will feature Grand Marshal, Mr. Harlan Ogle.

The 2nd Annual "Main Street Holiday Decorating Contest" will be carried

on this year to increase the holiday season festivities. This contest is

open to all residents and businesses located on Main Street in Monticello.

There is no entry fee to participate. Just contact the Chamber of Commerce

Defensive Action Against Drugs is partnering with Pizza Hut on Monday,

THANKSGIVING COMMUNITY OUTREACH

ARC Christian Fellowship will be holding a Thanksgiving community

outreach. The featured singers are Chuck and Phyllis Gibson of the "Singing

Evangelistic Ministries."

It will be held at the Farm Bureau Building on Sunday, November 22 at 3

WAYNE COUNTY BAND EXHIBITION

The Wayne County Band will be hosting their annual Exhibition on

Thursday, November 12 at Jewell Field. The band will perform their award

winning show, Childhood Memories at 6:30 p.m.

The Band Boosters will be serving delicious tenderloin, chili, chicken

sandwiches and hot dogs along with great desserts starting at 5 p.m.

Drawing for door prizes will be held before the show.

MORGAN AND WOODS-CARTER REUNION

The Second Annual Reunion of the families of Arch and Martha Morgan and

Pearl Woods-Carter will be held November 15 at the Senior Citizens Building.

LOCAL INPUT REQUESTED FOR USDA

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) administers the

Enviromental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), a federal program that

provides technical and financial (cost-share) assistance to land users to

address natural resource concerns. NRCS is asking for local input for the

fiscal year 2010 program.

A local work group meeting for the ranking area consisting of Adair,

Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor and

Wayne counties is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 23 at 9:30 a.m. at Pulaski

Extension office.

WAYNE COUNTY JROTC, FCA TEAM UP FOR THANKSGIVING

The W.C. JROTC and FCA are once again teaming up to feed the shut-ins

and less fortunate of Wayne County on Thanksgiving Day. The meal will

consist of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, peas and dressing. We

encourage anyone who has transportation to pick up their meals. The students

will be delivering meals to those who cannot come to the high school.

delivered between 10 a.m. and 12 noon on Thanksgiving Day.



BRIAN FREE AND ASSURANCE TO PERFORM AT RECTOR'S FLAT BAPTIST CHURCH

Brian Free and Assurance will be performing at Rector's Flat Baptist

Church on Friday, November 13 at 6:30 p.m. (EST). The church is located 2.5

miles off Hwy. 90 on Hwy. 1546 in the Murl community. There is no admission

charge. A free will offering will be taken.



FREE YARD SALE AT THE FATHER'S HOUSE CHURCH

The Father's House Church is have a "free yard sale" on Friday, November

13. There will be clothing and food for anyone in need.

HOOPS program to begin at Steubenville Baptist Church

The HOOPS for Christ program at Steubenville Baptist Church will soon be

underway. Evaluations will be held on the following dates: November 19,

5:30-7:30 p.m.; November 20, 5:30-7:30 p.m.; November 21, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.;

and November 23, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Practice will be held December 7-11, December 14-18, and January 4-7.

Games will begin January 9.

There is a charge to participate in the program.

The Monticello First Church of the Nazarene will be having an indoor

MONTICELLO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL

The Monticello Independent School is seeking minority parent

representation for the School Based Decision Making Committee (SBDM).

Nominations will be taken until November 30 at 3 p.m. in the principal's

office. The election will be held December 4 from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.



W.C. Class of 1960 TO MEET

The W. C. Class of 1960 will meet at Shearer's Buffet on Thursday,

E-911 COMMENDS RESIDENTS WHO HAVE POSTED NEW ADDRESS

The E-911 Mapping and Addressing Office would like to commend those who

have posted their new address on the dwelling and on both sides of the

mailbox. Residents who have done this and have notified correspondents of

the new E-911 address will not have any interruption in mail service.

However, if you have not notified them before December 31 you will

experience mail delays as the post office will not deliver to mail addressed

with the old address as of January 1, 2010.

If you have not put your new number on your dwelling or mailbox or

notified your correspondents, please do so for your safety and to receive

uninterrupted mail service before December.

WAYNE COUNTY ADULT EDUCATION CENTER

Wayne County Adult Education Center has resumed classes on Tuesday and

Thursday evenings until 7 p.m. This will give an opportunity to individuals

who aren't able to attend day classes. The center is open weekly on Monday,

Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m.-7

p.m. Our Family Literacy program offers Parent and Children Together (PACT)

Time on Tuesdays 3 p.m.-5 p.m. with homework help for school age children

and Wednesdays from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. There will be Baby (PACT) Parent and Child

Together Time.

Classes are always free. We offer many opportunities for you at the

Adult Education Center: earn a gold or silver employability certificate

through Work keys; earn a G.E.D.; learn to read; upgrade basic general

education skills; learn to type; learn basic computer skills; study for

drivers or CDL permit; enroll in family literacy; learn English as a second

language; or Kentucky Para-Educators Assessment (teacher's aide test.)

WAYNE COUNTY COMMUNITY HEALTH COUNCIL

The Wayne County Community Health Council (Local Champions Against Drug

Use) meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12 noon in the Wayne County

Hospital cafeteria meeting room. Come a little earlier and enjoy lunch.

Health-related agencies and concerned citizens are both welcome. Be a part

of helping set community wide health goals and complete projects. To date

the council: has conducted and published two community health surveys and

held community health fairs targeting needs identified on health surveys;

serves as local Champions Groups; garnered an estimated $40,000 for Wayne

County to use towards drug education and prevention efforts; and continues

to develop and distribute educational material related to drug prevention

efforts, parenting tips, health habits, etc.



THE HOPE CENTER

The Hope Center is in need of the following items‹paper products,

cooking and baking food items, canned foods and meats, diapers, nice

bedding, dishes and towels for our burn out room. Any donations would be

greatly appreciated.



WAYNE COUNTY SADDLE CLUB

The Wayne County Saddle Club meeting time has been changed from the

third Monday of the month to the third Tuesday of the month. We invite all

horse lovers to join our club and meet with us.



ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, degenerative disease which attacks

the brain. It is the most common form of dementia and its causes are

unknown. More than four million Americans are diagnosed with the disease.

The Alzheimer's Association would like to announce a support group for

family members and caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's disease. This

monthly support group will meet at the Russell Springs Active Day Center in

Russell Springs, Ky. the last Monday of each month at 6 p.m. The setting is

a small discussion group with an emphasis on sharing feelings, thoughts and

experiences.



FREE GOSPEL JAM AT ROCK WORSHIP CENTER

The Rock Worship Center in Somerset, Ky. sponsors a free Gospel Jam,

cafe style, every Friday night at 7 p.m. EST. All are welcome, come and

bring your group, yourself, an instrument or just come and enjoy! We are

FREE FOREST STEWARDSHIP PLANS FOR PRIVATE WOODLAND OWNERS

The Kentucky Division of Forestry prepares Forest Stewardship Plans for

private woodland owners as a free service.

At your request, a forester will walk over your property with you while

explaining the condition of your woodland and listening to your objectives.

The forester will then make recommendations to help you set and achieve

management goals for your forestland. The recommendations will be summarized

in the Forest Stewardship Plan which will include information on timber

production, fish and wildlife management and management for recreation,

aesthetics and water quality.

SIT AND SEW

Contented Heart Quilt Guild will have a "Sit and Sew" day each first

Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Quilt Shoppe. Anyone is invited to come

for an hour or so and bring a project to work on.
