5-14-2014 — THURSDAY SERVICE AT NEW COVENANT

  FELLOWSHIP

    Bro. Danny Leffew will be preaching on Thursday, May 15 at 7 p.m. at 

New Covenant Fellowship located at 71 Huffaker Street.

SPECIAL SINGING AT NEW COVENANT

FELLOWSHIP

    Brian Burchfield, formally with Melody Trio, will be at New Covenant 

Fellowships located at 71 Huffaker Street on Saturday, May 17 at 7 p.m.

FREE DUMPING DAYS

    Free dumping days will be June 3 and 4 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the 

Wayne County Recycling Center located on Creek View Drive behind Rite-

Aid. Items not accepted include: shingles and building materials, 

tires and hazardous materials. No dump truck loads. For more

OPEN HOUSE IN HONOR OF JOHN DALTON

    An open house will be held in honor of John Dalton for 29 years of 

service to the students and staff of Wayne County Schools. The open 

house will be held at the Wayne County High School Media Center on 

Thursday, May 22 between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.

SCC BOARD OF DIRECTORS

MEETING

    The Board of Directors of Somerset Community College will hold their 

next meeting on Thursday, May 15 at 1 p.m. in the Citizens National 

Bank community room of the Harold Rogers Student Commons.

BERTRAM REUNION

    The Bertram reunion will be held on Sunday, May 25 at the Senior 

Citizens Building at 12 p.m. Please bring drinks, dessert and 

veggies. The meat will be furnished. There will be a white elephant 

sale.

HOMECOMING AT SPANN HILL BAPTIST CHURCH

    Spann Hill Baptist Church will be having homecoming services and 

cemetery fund on Sunday, May 18. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. 

Lunch will be served at 12 p.m. There will be special singing. 

Everyone is welcome to attend.

PIERCY REUNION

    The annual Millard and Kate Piercy family reunion will be held at 

Wayne County Memorial Park on Saturday, May 24 in the little league 

shelter house. Please bring a covered dish. Lunch will be at 12 p.m. 

There will be a white elephant auction if you would like to bring an 

item. You're also welcome to bring family photos. Family and friends 

are welcome.

CANADA'S CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH

    Canada's Creek Baptist Church will be having Vacation Bible School 

June 16-20 at 6:30 p.m. The theme is "God's Amazing Grace." Everyone 

is welcome to attend.

WCHS CLASS OF 1976 REUNION

    The Wayne County Class of 1976 is planning a reunion to be held at 

the Monticello Country Club on Saturday, May 24 at 5 p.m. For more

SERVICE AT FOSTER CLARK CEMETERY

    Decoration service will be held at the Foster Clark Cemetery in the 

Freedom community on Friday, May 30 at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome to 

attend.

    Decoration service will be held at the Dodson Cemetery near Gregory 

on Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m.

SBDM PARENT

ELECTIONS AT WCHS

    SBDM parent elections will be conducted at the WCHS during the week 

of May 12. Nominations may be submitting in writing to the 

principal's office May 12-13 during normal business hours. Any parent/

guardian of a child who will be a student at WCHS next year is 

eligible to serve. Voting will take place May 15-16 from 8 a.m. to 

3:30 each day.

CORNBREAD

FESTIVAL

    The 21st Annual Cornbread Festival will be held Saturday, May 24 at 

Mill Springs Park. Pinto beans, hoecakes, and homemade desserts will 

be served from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A hot dog lunch is also 

available. Music will be provided by the Fall Creek Boys. There will 

be arts and crafts vendors, a corn grinding demonstration and the 

gift shop will be open.

   

MORROW FAMILY REUNION

    The family and friends of Charlie and Mattie Morrow are invited to a 

family reunion on Saturday, May 17. The reunion will be held at the 

Morrow Farm in the Delta community on Zion Road at the shelter house. 

A potluck lunch will be served a t 1 p.m. For more information

WAYNE COUNTY BOYS SENIOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

    Wayne County Little League will be having senior league baseball for 

boys ages 13-16 (those turning 17 after April 30 are not eligible to 

play.) For dates and times please contact 606-307-1368. To be 

eligible to play you must be signed up within three weeks.

   

BENEFIT RIDE FOR THE DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS CHAPTER 105

    A benefit ride for the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 105 will 

be held on Saturday, May 17 at Green Hill Church (located across from 

Belden's off the 90 Bypass.) Registration and lunch will be from 10 

a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $15 per bike and $5 per passenger. Meal is 

included with registration or the cost is $6 per person. For more

307-1692. This event is sponsored by the Temple Builders Chapter of 

the Kentucky Widows Sons of MRA.

   

GAP CREEK CEMETERY MEETING

    The Gap Creek Cemetery meeting will be held on May 15 at 7 p.m. at 

the Gap Creek Baptist Church.
