1-30-13 — BLOOD DRIVE

    There will be a blood drive held at Bell Elementary School on Thursday, February 7 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. To schedule a donation or for more details, visit kybloodcenter.org or call 800-775-2522.



A MISSION GOSPEL JUBILEE

    Cornerstone Fellowship Church will be having a Mission Gospel Jubilee on Sunday, February 17 at 6 p.m. at the ASPIRE Center. There will be gospel music, a spaghetti supper with dessert. Cornerstone partners with The Ky. Baptist Fellowship—Extreme Build Program to build a home for a needy family in the area. All donations go to the Extreme Build Program.

    Help take back your community from drugs and treat your sweetheart to pizza while dining to donate to Denfensive Action Against Drugs.  

Dine at Pizza Hut on Monday, February 11 from 4-8 p.m. Pizza Hut will make a donation to support the activities and programs of DAAD. DAAD appreciates Pizza Hut and other individuals, businesses, organizations, media, and churches for their support.

    There will be a melanoma cancer benefit for Mark Bell on Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m. at the Sportsman's Club. There will be food and an auction. For more info call 348-9430, 307-6286 or 348-6374.

WAYNE COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER

    The Wayne County Senior Citizens Center invited everyone 60 years and older to come and join them. There is a variety of activities to choose from including: checkers, puzzles, bingo, pool table, grocery shopping. Or just come to socialize. Every 3rd Friday of the month is potluck or we go an outing if weather permits. Everyday we offer T.V., exercise (on treadmill or bike), well-balanced meals served at

11 a.m., transportation to and from center (outside city limits on certain days of the week), day/afternoon trips, card games. Blood pressure checks monthly; health clinic, annually; health and nutrition speakers and other informative speakers. If you have any questions call 348-5811.

    

RELAY FOR LIFE YOUTH SUMMIT

    The American Cancer Society would like to invite high school youth representatives from local school clubs, church or youth organizations to participate in a Relay for Life Youth Summit on February 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Pulaski County Library.

WCHS SITE BASED DECISION MAKING COUNCIL MEETING

    The Wayne County High School Site Based Decision Making Council will meet January, 28 at 4 p.m. in the high school library.

    

OLD UNION SEPARATE BAPTIST CHURCH WILL BE HAVING A SPECIAL SINGING

    Old Union Separate Baptist Church will be having a special singing on Sunday, February 3 at 6 p.m. Featured singers will be The Dalton Gang from Brentwood, Tenn. Everyone is welcome to attend.

    

GOSPEL CONCERT AND CHILI SUPPER

    The ARC Christian Fellowship Church located at 2144 Hwy. 3106 (Old

90) will be having a gospel concert and chili supper on Saturday, February 2. The chili supper will start at 5 p.m. and the singing at

AARP FOUNDATION TAX-AIDE PROGRAM

    AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is available free to taxpayers with low and moderate income, with special attention to those 60 and older. The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide site in Wayne County is located in the basement of Monticello City Hall. The site will be open February 5 through March 7 a on walk-in basis on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-5 p.m. The site will be closed on February 12 due to the special election.

    

CHILI SUPPER FUND RAISER FOR C/BTRY 1/623

    Charlie Battery 1/623 FA will be having a chili supper fund raiser on February 16 at 5 p.m. at the Monticello Armory to help support the needs of  the unit while they are deployed. Sage Knoll will be preforming. If you have any questions please call the Armory.

    

ELDER ABUSE MEETING

    The regional meeting of the Lake Cumberland Area Development District Elder Abuse Council will be January 31. The meeting will start at 10 a.m. CDT in the district conference room in Russell Springs. FREE POTTERY WHEEL LESSON

    There will be a free pottery wheel lesson  offered at the Extension Office.  The class will be broken down into three parts.  Part 2 will be held Tuesday, January 29 and will be constructing the lids/ handles. You can attend one of the following times: 1-3:30 p.m. or 6-8:30 p.m. Part 3 glazing will be held on Tuesday, February 5. You can attend either the 1-3:30 p.m. or 6-8:30 p.m. class.

    

LEARNING TO CONTROL DIABETES CLASS

    There will be a free learning to control diabetes class held at the Wayne County Health Department on Tuesday, February 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 1-3:30 p.m. Classes are free but pre-registration is required.

ACRYLIC PAINTING CLASS

    There will be an acrylic painting class on Thursday, January 31 that is designed for any beginner learning to accurately balance a painting through tracing organic shapes. This class is free of charge and you can attend either the 1-3:30 p.m. class or the 6-8:30 p.m.
