Winners announced from annual Christmas Parade

Melodie Phelps, News Editor
Wayne County Outlook

Monticello Friday night was a great night for a Christmas Parade, and it was a

record setting event for the Monticello-Wayne County Chamber of Commerce.

This marks the largest parade ever, with over 1,200 people participating.

There were a total of 136 entries this year, including 22 floats. Other

entries included antique cars, tractors, horses and wagons. Harlan Ogle

served as Grand Marshal for this year's parade.

Large crowds of local residents lined Main Street to enjoy the festively

decorated entries. Floats were judged in several different categories, and

prizes were awarded in each category.

Taking first place in the Best Civic/Non-Profit Division was New Salem

Baptist Church. Second place went to Immanuel Christian Academy and Hospice

of Lake Cumberland won third place.

In the Best Business Division, Wal-Mart claimed first place. Factory

Connection was in second place and Curves of Monticello finished in third

place.

Wayne County FFA won first place in the Best Academic Division. Second

place went to the Monticello Varsity Cheerleaders.

Wright Hollow Horse Park won the award for best decorated wagon.

In addition to float winners, the Chamber also announced the winners in

the Main Street Decorating Contest. Monticello-Wayne County Florist won

first place in the business category, while Billy Breeding won first place

in the residential category.
