Motorcycle accident claims life of teenager

Monticello A 17-year-old Wayne County High School student died on Monday, April 7,

as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Benjamin

Bertram, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 7:50 p.m. by

Wayne County Coroner Forrest Hicks and Deputy Coroner Anthony Vaughn.

According to Hicks, the accident occurred at approximately 7:22 p.m. on

the Dodson Hollow Road in Meadow Creek. Bertram apparently lost control of

his motorcycle and left the roadway, striking a wire fence and a tree.

Hicks said that Bertram suffered serious head injuries in the accident.

He is survived by his parents, Billy and Krista Bertram, and a sister,

Sara. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 11.
