Deadline for filing for the May primary was Tuesday

Monticello With the filing deadline for the May primary election quickly

approaching, the number of candidates who have thrown their hats into the

ring over the last week has increased.

Seven more candidates have filed in the Wayne County Clerk's Office and

two others have filed with the Kentucky Secretary of State, bringing the

total on the ballot to 61.

Three candidates have joined the race for District Two Magistrate. They

include: Barney Tom Denney, a republican; Rick Thompson, a democrat; and

Bobby Carrender, a republican.

Clifton New, a democrat, has filed as a candidate for District Four

Magistrate.

Jamie Piercy, a republican, has filed as a candidate for District Two

Constable.

James Lucian Morrow, a republican, has filed as a candidate for District

Three Constable.

Ed L. Reynolds, a republican, has filed as candidate for District Four

Constable.

State Senator David Williams, a republican from Burkesville, has filed

for re-election to his seat. Another candidate has also filed in that race:

Denver D. Capps, a republican from Burkesville.

The deadline for candidates to file for races that appear on the May

primary ballot was at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, about 24 hours after

this edition of The Outlook went to press.

filed for office.
