Jeffrey Dishman appointed to fill magisterial seat

Melodie Phelps, News Editor
Wayne County Outlook

Monticello Jeffrey Darrell Dishman, the son of former District Two Magistrate

Darrell Dishman, has been appointed to fill the seat vacated by his father

on January 13. Governor Steve Beshear made the appointment last week.

Dishman, who is a democratic candidate in the race for District Two

Magistrate, will serve until after the November general election, when

voters will decide who will fill the seat for the next four-year term.

Darrell Dishman announced his resignation from the position in a letter

that was read during a fiscal court meeting on January 14. In the letter,

Dishman cited his ongoing battle with cancer as the reason for his

resignation. He was beginning the final year of his first term in office.

Plans are for Jeffrey Dishman to be sworn in later this week.
