Groundbreaking held for new community center at Boys Camp

Melodie Phelps, News Editor
Wayne County Outlook

Monticello Several officials, along with local residents, attended a special ground

breaking ceremony for the new community center at the Lake Cumberland Boys

Camp, held Sunday, March 9.

The center was made possible by donations from businesses, individuals

and churches.

The 1,200 square foot community center can be used for many different

activities, including church services. It will also be available for family

visits, as well as meetings.

"They don't have a place like that right now," explained Mike Huffaker,

who has been involved in planning the project.

Huffaker noted that an architect drew up the plans for the facility at

no charge. He noted that boys at the camp will do as much of the work as

possible on the building.

They plan to have the building completed by June.

Anyone who would like to help with this project can send their

tax-deductible donation to: LCBC Building Fund, P.O. Box 162, Monticello, KY

42633.

For more information, contact Huffaker at (606) 348-7739.
