Students at Monticello will start and end their days at the same time as
this year, following action taken by the Monticello Independent Board of
Education during their meeting Monday evening, May 12.
The board set the instructional time for the 2008-09 school year from 8
a.m. to 3 p.m., with a six-period modified block schedule. Superintendent
Donnie Robison noted that this schedule had worked well this year and he
recommended that the board approve the same instructional time for next
year.
In other action, the board approved full utilization and collaboration
with Lake Cumberland Head Start for the 2008-09 school year. Robison noted
that because of the school's tighter budget there would be some changes in
the agreement.
The board also appointed Glenette Hurd as treasurer for the 2008-09
school year. There is a $300,000 bond on the treasurer, which is with State
Farm Insurance. In addition, the board approved the bonding of all employees
for the 2008-09 school year. These bonds are with State Farm Insurance as
well. The bonds are in the amounts of $5,000 for all employees and $20,000
for the principal.
