Grand jury returns several indictments

Monticello The Wayne County Grand Jury met on Tuesday, June 16 and returned 18 indictments. One of the indictments was sealed. The other indictments returned by the grand jury included:

€ Larry G. Branham was indicted for flagrant non-support.

€ William S. Arrott was indicted for flagrant non-support.

€ Benny L. Morris was indicted for flagrant non-support.

€ Charles Pace was indicted for flagrant non-support and persistent felony offender first degree.

€ Richard Leon Allen was indicted for flagrant non-support.

€ Ludwig Schmitt, Jr. was indicted for cultivation of marijuana first offense.

€ Ricky W. Bell was indicted for trafficking in a controlled substance first degree, tampering with physical evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia second offense, and persistent felony offender second degree.

€ Steve Underwood and James Spence were indicted for cultivation of marijuana first offense.

€ Deborah Spradlin, Charles Melton, and Derek Bell were indicted for cultivation of marijuana first offense.

€ An indictment was returned against Christopher Ray Branscum and Crystal D. Branscum. Christopher Branscum was indicted for burglary third degree and theft of a controlled substance. Crystal Branscum was indicted for complicity to burglary third degree and complicity to theft of a controlled substance.

€ Douglas Upchurch and James Brian Roberts were indicted for burglary third degree and theft by unlawful taking over $300.

€ Dennis A. Hale was indicted for fleeing and evading police first degree.

€ Bryan Hutton was indicted for burglary third degree and theft by unlawful taking over $300.

€ Aaron M. Carrender and Billy Inman was indicted for theft by unlawful taking over $300. Carrender was also indicted for persistent felony offender second degree.

€ William David Jones was indicted for forgery second degree.

€ Crandell D. Phillips and Monica Garland Phillips were indicted for three counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument second degree and three counts of theft by deception over $300. Crandell Phillips was also indicted on one count of persistent felony offender first degree.

€ Mark A. Burris and Jody L. Burris were indicted for trafficking in a controlled substance second degree.

Readers are reminded that grand jury indictments do not indicate guilt, but that further court action is necessary in a case.
