Two are charged with numerous incidents of criminal mischief to vehicles

6-4-2014 —      Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with a number of criminal mischief incidents involving vehicles. According to the Monticello Police Department, the arrests were made on Friday, May 23.

    Tasha Brumley, 18, of Monticello, was initially charged with five counts of criminal mischief related to incidents that occurred in early May. She was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.

    Later in the day, the continuing investigation resulted in 14 additional counts of criminal mischief being filed against Brumley. These charges were related to more recent incidents. An additional $14,000 cash bond was placed on Brumley.

    Officers also arrested James Rigney, Jr., 18, of Monticello, and charged him with 14 counts of criminal mischief in connection with the most recent incidents. Rigney was also lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center on a $14,000 cash bond.

    Monticello  Police Chief Ralph Miniard said the incidents included in this investigation involved painting of vehicles as well as numerous reports of tires being slashed.

    The investigation into the recent incidents of vandalism is continuing.
