Finish with 18-15 record Bat Cards end season with loss to Somerset

6-4-2014 —         The 2014 Wayne County baseball team saw their season come to an end with a 2-0 loss to Somerset in the first round of the 12th Region Baseball Tournament. The Cardinals closed out the 2014 campaign with a record of 18 wins and 15 losses.

Wayne County Head Coach Shane Blevins was pleased with the overall body of work from this year's squad. "We got better as the season progressed and were very competitive with some of the top teams in our region as well as some of the top teams in the state. We got good throughout the year which kept us in a lot of games, but we were never able to get our offense going like we would have liked. We lost some really good offensive baseball players off last year's team, and we knew they would be tough to replace. We lose four more seniors off this year's squad that we are really going to miss, but hopefully with some of the experience some of our young guys got this season we can come back and be competitive once again next season."
