Two candidates have filed in the race for Monticello City Council. All six city council seats will be up for election in November's general election.

Jerry Worley and current council member Knox Bertram have both filed
paperwork to seek council seats, according to Wayne County Clerk
Brenda Corder.
Two of the current members of city council—Tracie Sexton and Ronnie
Sexton—have both filed as candidates in the race for Monticello
Mayor. That race also includes current Mayor Jeffrey Edwards, police
officer Gordon Stephens and Kenneth D. Catron, Jr., who is the son of
long-time Mayor Kenneth Catron.
City races are non-partisan. Candidates in these races have until
August 14 at 4 p.m. to file their intentions to see office as council members or mayor.
