Board members for the Monticello Utility Commis-sion are considering

utilizing the services of a collection agency to collect on past due


The board discussed a proposal submitted by Hillcrest Credit Agency of

Bowling Green during their regular monthly meeting last Thursday, October 4.

The proposal included a list of local businesses that the agency currently

works with, according to System Manager Leroy Mikel, as he discussed the

proposal with members of the board.

Following the discussion of the matter, board member Alvin Sexton

suggested that Jonathan Edwards, legal counsel for the utility commission,

review the proposal and give the board his opinion on it at their next


In other action, the board voted to create the position of assistant

water treatment plant manager. This decision was made after Mikel informed

the board that William Roberts, an employee at the water treatment plant,

had been given more responsibilities at the plant. Mikel suggested that the

board hire Roberts as an assistant superintendent at the water treatment

€ was informed that the garbage truck had sold. The board had authorized

Mikel to sell the truck during last month's meeting.

€ heard a report from Ruby Villarreal, who reviewed the financial

statements for the month of September.

€ heard updates of current projects from Mikel. He also presented a

report from the water treatment plant for the month of September.

€ heard a monthly report from Donnie Lester on the waste water plant.

€ heard a monthly report from James Shoemaker on the service crew.
