The man charged in connection with the November 2005 shooting deaths of

his mother and brother has entered guilty pleas on both counts of murder.

Robert Dennis appeared in Wayne Circuit Court on Wednesday, September 12 to

enter the pleas.

Dennis has remained jailed since the November 18, 2005 shooting that

resulted in the death of his mother, Dorothy Dennis, 70, and his brother,

Gary L. Dennis, 48. The two were shot multiple times during the incident

that occurred at a residence on Hillard Avenue in Monticello. Dennis later

turned himself in at the Monticello Police Department.

He was indicted in December 2005 for two counts of murder, possession

of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a handgun by a convicted

felon, possession of a controlled substance first degree and possession of

marijuana.

Under the plea agreement the two drug-related charges were dismissed

against Dennis. Commonwealth Attorney Matthew Leveridge recommended a life

sentence on both the murder charges. He recommended 10 years on the charge

of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and five years on the

charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The sentences will run concurrently, according to the plea agreement.

Dennis could be eligible for parole in 20 years.

Formal sentencing for Dennis has been set for November 5 at 1 p.m. in

Wayne Circuit Court.
