HOMER JONES

July 11, 1925-May 7, 2008

Homer Jones, age 82, of the Coopersville community of Wayne County, Ky., passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at his home.

He was born July 11, 1925 in the Slavens community of McCreary County, Ky., the son of the late Richard and Elza Gregory Jones.

On March 31, 1945 he married Beatrice Gilbert Jones, who survives.

He is survived by nine children-Gloria Decker of Burnside, Ky., Faye Coffey, Rosemary Foster, Sylvia Bell, Kenneth, Dennis, Porter, Donnie and Eddie Jones, all of Wayne County, Ky.

He is also survived by one sister-Wilma Jean Dobbs; four brothers-Reese, Ray, Austin and Charles Jones; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter-Emma Jean; and son-Johnny Wayne Jones; one sister-Dorothy Dennis; and four brothers-Willie, Cecil, Clifford and Oscar Jones.

He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in McCreary County, Ky.

He attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 11, 2008 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Kenneth Thompson and Bro. Curtis Burnett officiating.

Burial was in the Burkes Cemetery.

Hoyt G. Hickey and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
