    June 30, 1936‹May 21, 2014

    Boyd Franklin Parmley, age 77, of Kennard, Ind. passed away Wednesday,

May 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 30, 1936 in the Parnell

community of Monticello, Ky. the son of Lillie Florence Parmley and was

raised by his grandparents, Frank Henderson "Hence" and Josie Ellen Parmley.

    He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961 as a Master Tank Gunner.

    He retired from Roadway Trucking Company after 26 years of service. He

was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan and was a member of the

Teamsters Union #135. He enjoyed fishing, watching sport car racing and attending car shows.

    He is survived by his wife of 45 years‹Rebecca "Sue" Parmley of Kennard, Ind.; two sons‹Garvin Lee (Anna) Parmley of Seymour, Ind. and Jason Lee (Christina) Parmley of Daleville, Ind.; nine grandchildren‹Heather (Josh) Quillen, Josh (Rachael) Parmley, Austin Hamm, Samantha Parmley, Kayla Hollingsworth, Jaima Hollingsworth, Amber Slaven, Jordan Parmley and Kayleigh Smith; four great-grandchildren; one brother‹Leroy Stephenson of Evington, Va.; two sisters‹Loretta (Joe) Guerrero of Pontiac, Ill. and Marie (Jackie) McGuire of Monticello, Ky.; several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his mother‹Lillie F. Parmley; his grandparents‹Franklin Henderson "Hence" and Josie Ellen Parmley; one sister‹Katherine Conn; and one brother‹William "Bill" Inman.

    Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014 in the funeral home chapel in Indiana with Pastor Bob Lines officiating. Military rites were conducted by the American Legion. Burial was in the South Mound Cemetery.
