Passing the torch

Monticello Mayor Kenneth Catron lit the Special Olympics torch as he prepared to pass it to Officer Sheridan Wright, who led the law enforcement torch run Saturday. The run began at the city limits on North 90 and ended on South 90 at the city limits. The torch was passed at the Monticello Municipal Law Enforcement Center on Main Street.

Graduation day

Wayne County seniors are preparing for graduation later this week. Commencement exercises are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 24 at the Wayne County gymnasium. Teacher Carol Ford (right) adjusts a collar for senior Crystal Monday prior to an Honors Day ceremony recently at the school.
