Investigation results in three arrests

A joint investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department and the Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force has resulted in the arrest of three people on drug related charges, according to Sheriff James Lynn Hill.

Arrested were: Larry Stigall, 42, of Highway 790 in Bronston, charged with manufacturing methamphetamine first degree, trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) first degree, and two counts of receiving stolen property over $300; Samuel David Keller, of Highway 790, Bronston, charged with possession of a controlled substance first degree (methamphetamine); and Roger W. Nicholas, of Charlie Neal Road, Burnside, charged with possession of a controlled substance first degree (oxycodone), possession of a controlled substance second degree, and possession of a controlled substance third degree.

Hill said all three men were lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.

Confiscated in connection with the investigation were 22 marijuana plants, a small amount of processed marijuana, oxycodone, half an ounce of methamphetamine, the remnants of a methamphetamine lab, and a number of stolen property items.

Hill said the investigation is continuing and he expects several more arrests will be forthcoming.

Bertram is charged with six different offenses

A Monticello attorney, out of jail on an appeal bond, has been arrested and lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center. George Bertram was charged with six different counts, including carrying a concealed weapon, public intoxication-controlled substance, criminal trespassing, resisting arrest, expired registration, and possession of a controlled substance.

Bertram was free on bond while he appealed a five-year sentence handed down by a Russell County jury earlier this year.
