Monticello — The Park Board has hired Intertech and Associates as the engineering
firm for the new restroom project at Memorial Park. The decision was made
during a meeting held on Wednesday, March 12 at Monticello City Hall.
Park Board treasurer Hank Bassett said he had talked with Barry Cooper
of Intertech and Associates about doing engineering for the building. He
said that Barry Cooper had agreed to do the job for a fee of nine percent of
construction costs. Cooper was scheduled to meet with the board during a
special meeting on Monday, March 17 at the site of the construction project.
Park Board chairman Jane Dalton said she had received the final
paperwork for the $75,000 GOLD grant, which the board was awarded for
construction of the new restroom facility.
"We can now move forward with that project," Dalton told board members.
She also provided board members with an update on the Kiwanis Field II
project. Dalton said that the new roof is on the shelter building and that
dirt is on site and they are waiting for better weather to do the grade
work.
Shane Stockton, with Community Telecom Services, addressed the board
during the meeting. He asked for permission to extend the cable company's
infrastructure into the large shelter house, so that SpringFest can be
televised in May.
Stockton said that once the equipment is in place, it can be also be
utilized in the future to televise events. The board approved the request.
In other action, the board also agreed to proceed with the 2007 audit.
They did not receive any bids for the service, but Bassett had talked with a
CPA who estimated that it would cost approximately $4,000 to do the audit.
The Park Board's next regularly scheduled meeting will be April 9 at 5
p.m. at Monticello City Hall.
