Monticello Board waives provisions on policy for school council staffing allocations

Sylvia McGinnis, News Reporter
Wayne County Outlook

Monticello — The Monticello Inde-pendent Board of Education voted to waive provisions

on the board policy for the 2009-2010 school council staffing allocation

from March 1 to May 1. This action was taken during the board's regular

monthly meeting Monday evening, February 23.

According to Superin-tendent Donnie Robison, this will give the board

some leeway on planning the budget until they have a firmer understanding of

what monies they will be receiving.

In other news, the board approved the FRYSC continuation grant

application for the 2009-2010 school year. Robison noted that the local

FRYSC program has done an outstanding job of helping students at Monticello.

In other action, the board:

€ discussed sewing machine bids. The board voted to reject the bids

because they did not get a sufficient number of bids. They also voted to

re-advertise for bids.

€ approved the classified job description for the 21st Century grant.

The board created the position in case funding comes in and then they could

fill it at that time.

€ heard a personnel report and approved one individual as an emergency

substitute teacher.

€ heard a report from Superintendent Donnie Robison. He noted that

Monticello Independent is hosting the district tournament this week.

Robison also informed the board that Monticello had received an

expansion on the 21st Century grant to include the high school.

He also asked that the board approve the Senior Trip to Washington, D.C.

and New York City, which is scheduled for June 8-12.
