— The Wayne County Middle School will have a new principal for the
2009-2010 school year. Tracy Bale, who recently served as principal at
Spencer County High School, was hired last week by the WCMS site based
council, after a series of interviews.
Bale will officially become principal at the middle school on July 1.
For the past five years, Bale has been employed as an administrator in
the Spencer County School District, which is located in Taylorsville, Ky. He
has served as principal at Spencer County High School since 2006. From 2004
to 2006 he served as assistant principal at the district's middle school,
which housed grades six through eight.
Bale said he became a teacher for one reason, "to affect the lives of
young people." Since becoming an administrator, he has had the opportunity
to serve not only students inside a classroom, but a wider range of
students, parents, and teachers.
Bale taught sixth grade science in Elizabethtown in the Hardin County
School District for two years.
He received his superintendent certification from the University of
Louisville and his principal K-12 Rank I certification from Western Kentucky
University. He also has a school counseling 5-12 certification from Western
Kentucky Univer-sity. He has served as a school counselor, football and
baseball coach, and bus driver, in addition to being a classroom instructor
at the start of his career in public education.
Bale will be taking over for Wayne County Middle School Principal
Darrell Stephenson, who agreed to serve as interim principal for one year.
Stephenson will return to his post at the Lake Cumberland Boys Camp.
Wayne County Superin-tendent John Dalton expressed his appreciation to
the Wayne County Middle School site based council for conducting the
interview process and for all their hard work that was devoted to the
selection process.
