percent.
In the Lake Cumberland area, the overall jobless rate also decreased in
that same time frame. The rate dropped from 11.8 percent in March to 10.6
percent in April. The highest unemployment rate in the area was 14.1

counties, 15.8 percent; Bath County, 15.2 percent; Allen and Powell

Unemployment statistics are based on estimates and are compiled to
measure trends rather than to actually count people working. Civilian labor
force statistics include non-military workers and unemployed Kentuckians who
are actively seeking work. They do not include unemployed Kentuckians who
have not looked for employment within the past four weeks.
