8-4-10 —     The man accused of a 2007 home invasion, as well as a series of thefts in the Rocky Branch area of the county, has entered a guilty plea to multiple charges in  the case. Krockett Dehaai appeared in Wayne Circuit Court on Tuesday, July 20 and entered a guilty plea to first degree burglary, kidnapping, and three counts of first degree wanton endangerment.

Twelve year sentences were recommended for the charges of burglary first degree and kidnapping. Five year sentences were recommended for each of the three counts of first degree wanton endangerment. All sentences will run consecutively for a total of 15 years, according to circuit court documents.

Several charges will be dismissed at sentencing, including robbery first degree, two counts of theft by unlawful taking (firearm), one count of theft by unlawful taking over $300, one count of wanton endangerment first degree, one count of theft by unlawful taking (automobile), two counts of theft by unlawful taking under $300, possession of burglary tools, possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, and persistent felony offender second degree.

The charges stem from an August 13, 2007 incident, in which police say Dehaai forced his way into a residence in the Rocky Branch area with a weapon. Officials said this incident occurred after Dehaai had spent the early morning hours breaking into vehicles in the area.

He was taken into custody following a foot pursuit. Officers said Dehaai had two shotguns, several rounds of ammunition and cash on him at the time of his arrest.

Formal sentencing in the case has been set for August 17 in Wayne Circuit Court.
