5-12-10 — The Heart of Lake Cumberland SpringFest 2010 is set for Friday, May 14
and Saturday, May 15 at Memorial Park. This year's event will feature many
favorite activities like KidZone with free inflatables, live entertainment,
arts, crafts, food and much more.
Starship will be the headline musical event for SpringFest 2010, and
they will take the stage on Saturday night at approximately 9 p.m. But
before then there will be plenty for everyone to enjoy.
SpringFest kicks of on Friday at 4 p.m. and the Monticello Elementary
Choir will perform at about 5 p.m. The Lake Cumberland's Got Talent Show
will be held Friday after opening ceremonies. It is slated to begin at about
5:30 p.m.
Rapid Transit will take the stage at 8 p.m. and Klayssic Tymes will
perform at about 9:15 p.m. Friday.
SpringFest gets underway at 10 a.m. Saturday. The first act on the stage
will be the Bell Tones at 11 a.m. Plan to stay all day and listen to music
by Reverend John and the Backsliders, The Mojo's, Ugly Tree, Velveeta Jones,
and Andy and the Rockers. Starship's concert will provide a finale for
SpringFest.
"The Event Committee has worked extremely hard on being able to secure
Starship, plus expand KidZone, while keeping the event free to the public,"
said Chamber of Commerce SpringFest chairperson Vicki Davis. "We also have
some excellent local and regional talent, so hopefully we have a group for
everyone in the family."
"Music is just one part of the weekend: we also have great vendor food
booths, arts and crafts, plus all kinds of fun games," Davis added. "All of
this happens because we have such great partners and sponsors that continue
to support SpringFest. Money is tight and budgets are smaller across the
nation, but we feel so fortunate to have the number of businesses donating
that we do. This event could not happen without their support."
The SpringFest Motorcycle Run is slated for Saturday, May 15 and riders
will participate in a 124 mile ride along East KY 92, across Highway 700 to
Cumberland Falls and back. Registration is set to begin at 10 a.m. that day
and the ride will begin at 12 Noon. Riders will be back in time to enjoy
quite a bit of the music on Saturday.
Vendors are being encouraged to reserve their space early, as spots are
filling up quickly and are limited. For more information or to reserve a
spot visit www.heartoflakecumberlandspringfest.com or call the Chamber
office at (606) 348-3064.
"We want and ask any local group that plans on setting up for the
weekend to make sure they do that early, so we can accommodate as many as
possible. Hopefully, everyone that can will make SpringFest part of their
weekend schedule," said Eulah Johnson, president of the Monticello-Wayne
County Chamber of Commerce.
