LCADTF receives grant to fight illegal drugs in Wayne, McCreary, Pulaski

CNHI

9-8-10 —     Rep. Ken Upchurch (R)-Monticello (52nd District), recently announced a grant of $162,000 has been awarded to Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force.

The grant money will be used by law enforcement in Wayne, McCreary and Pulaski County to continue their war on drugs.

"Keeping our communities and our children safe remains a top priority for Kentucky," Upchurch said.  "We must make sure local law enforcement has the tools they need to keep drugs off our streets, and this grant will aid our police officers in their fight."

The funding was secured through the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet from the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) federal funding program, and the state funded Law Enforcement Services Fee (LSF) grant program.

In all, more than $4 million in JAG and LSF grant funds were awarded to law enforcement agencies across the Commonwealth in 2010.

These funds will be used by police agencies to combat drugs, drunk driving and other crimes in their communities.

In addition, Operation UNITE was awarded a grant in the amount of $28,739 to be used in the war on drugs.
