Monticello — Wayne County Judge-Executive Greg Rankin and Solid Waste Coordinator Tim
Bell are proud to announce Wayne County will once again be an active
participant in PRIDE Cleanup month in April.
PRIDE, which stands for Personal Responsibility In a Desirable
Environment, has the 2010 slogan of "Pride: IT STARTS WITH ME!"
The month offers individuals or groups of volunteers a chance to make a
difference in their local communities and help improve the scenic beauty
with a month of cleanup activities.
"Wayne County has Lake Cumberland and so much more to be proud of and
the PRIDE initiative helps with a month to do some spring-cleaning across
the county. I truly believe through education and all the other litter
cleanup programs we offer, plus our recycling efforts that Wayne County is
making a difference. People that visit, work and live here comment on the
beauty of our county, so April is a chance to go out and help in the cause,"
said County Judge/Executive Greg Rankin.
The Solid Waste Coordinators' office, located on the first floor of the
Wayne County Courthouse, has all the tools for volunteers ready to help. The
office will provide gloves, bags and safety vest, plus help individuals with
any questions they may have. PRIDE also has t-shirts for participants, while
they last.
"April is PRIDE month and we need volunteers and groups of any size that
are willing to help, to give my office a call, or stop by. We have several
different opportunities with our Lake Cleanup being one of our biggest
events. This is a great way to help the county and show concern for our
environment," said Solid Waste Coordinator Tim Bell.
The Wayne County Fiscal Court offers several free services throughout
the year like recycling, roadside litter abatement, dumpsite cleanups, white
goods and other appliance pickup.
