6-16-10 — At approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, it was reported that a
vehicle had gone into the lake at the New Fall Creek boat ramp.
Units from the Kentucky Dept. of Fish and Wildlife and the Wayne
County Sheriff's Office responded and discovered that the vehicle and
the boat trailer that was attached to it were totally submerged in
the water but still visible from the ramp.
The Wayne County Rescue Squad was called and a diver was sent down
to attach a cable to the vehicle to pull it back up onto the ramp.
The rescue squad, a local wrecker, and Kentucky Dept. of Fish and
Wildlife working in conjunction were able to extricate the vehicle
and bring it to the top of the ramp.
The driver stated he was attempting to load a pontoon onto his
trailer when the vehicle rolled backward into the lake. No one was
injured in the accident.
