A look at the 2009 Wayne County Volleyball Team

Monticello — Following is information provided about the Wayne County Volleyball Team

by Head Coach Andy Megargel.

1. Briefly talk about your upcoming season? "We feel like Wayne County

Volleyball is on the rise. We feel like both enthusiasm and participation

are up, with 22 kids dressing freshman, junior varsity and varsity."

2. What do you like best about your '09 team, or what would you consider

as a strength at this point of season? "We are building the foundation of

our program with the senior leadership of Emily Eicher and Sharline Bertram.

They are our only two seniors and are the only players that played on the

2006 Regional Championship team. We have a lot of youth on this year's team,

so their experience is helping shape our younger players for a bright

future. I also like the improvement that many of our younger players are

making each day."

3. What is your biggest concern or concerns about the upcoming season?

"Well at this part of our season we've faced some of the toughest teams in

our region and that's a tough thing to do with so much youth and

inexperience on our roster. We are excited about our future and all of our

youth, so that can be a strength and also a weakness."

4. Talk about your goals for the 2009 season? "We want to continue to

improve until we are the best, which is something that we hope to carry-over

as a life principle. Attitude is everything to improvement and consistent

improvement is everything to success. Our vision is for the athletes to

learn to be competitively great in eyery area of their lives. The goals of

this team are to extend past game time, not just be athletes but

student-athletes. We want to be great in the classroom as well as on the

court. The healthy habits our girls are making will outlast this season and

this school year. I'm just proud to be a part of this team, a team member

for this school and a coach in this community."
