There will be an additional nurse on the staff at Monticello
Independent. During their regular monthly meeting Monday evening, October
19, board members approved the final working budget for the 2009-2010 year,
which includes the funds to cover the school's portion of the cost of hiring
another nurse.
The school is taking advantage of a program offered through the health
department that will add another nurse to the staff at a reduced cost to the
school.
During last month's meeting, board members asked Superintendent Donnie
Robison to check into the program offered through the health department, and
they also authorized the expenditure of funds necessary to cover the
school's portion of the cost for this service.
Robison noted that through this program the school can hire another RN
to assist school nurse, Sandy Latham.
In other news, Robison informed board members that the 21st Century
Program at Monticello Independent has received a Program of Excellence award
for being one of the top 21st Century programs in the state.
