Monticello — At the conclusion of the championship game of the girls 30th district
soccer tournament last Thursday night, members of the all-tournament team
were announced and presented with awards for this honor.
In Wayne County's first year of having soccer as a girls' varsity sport,
one player was named to the all-district team. Junior defender and
midfielder Sierra Swift became the first person in Wayne County soccer
history to receive this honor.
Sierra helped the Lady Cardinals soccer team finish with a respectable
5-7-1 record in their first season.
They also held Pulaski County for much of the game in spite of falling
3-0 in district tournament play.
