Lake Cumberland Grand Prix 2010 launches "Crew Member for a Day" contest

CNHI

6-9-10 —    Want to do more than just watch the 2010 Lake Cumberland Grand Prix

Offshore Super Series (OSS) powerboat race from the shore or your boat?

Connect with the Lake Cumberland Grand Prix through the race's official

Facebook page and you could be eligible to become part of one of the crews

that will race their high-speed powerboats on the waters of Lake Cumberland

thanks to the Grand Prix's "Crew Member for a Day" contest, which launches

this week.

To enter, simply search Facebook for the race's official page by typing

in "Lake Cumberland Grand Prix OSS Powerboat Racing" and select that you

"like" the page, which makes you a member of the race's roster of Facebook

fans.

Two winners will be selected at random from the Lake Cumberland Grand

Prix's Facebook page membership by Wednesday, June 2. Winners will be

notified by a personal message sent to their Facebook account, and will have

24 hours to respond, accept the prize, and be placed in contact with OSS

officials for further arrangements. Be one of those winners, and you'll get

to spend Saturday, June 5‹qualifying and Pro Am racing day‹hanging with one

of the OSS powerboat crews at the course at Waitsboro Recreation Area in

Somerset.

"Why just sit back and watch the Lake Cumberland Grand Prix when you can

actually get a day of hands-on crew experience in and around the race pits

with a professional OSS powerboat crew?" said Larry Combs, race coordinator

with The Center for Rural Development. "This is a great way for fans to get

up close and personal with the exciting atmosphere of the Lake Cumberland

Grand Prix."

You and a partner will be working hand in hand with a team driver and

throttleman as their crew "dials" in the boat to get ready to test and race.

Be a part of the fastest powerboat series in North America while you

learn the inside scoop on what it takes to get ready and win!

Returning to Lake Cumberland for the second straight year, the Lake

Cumberland Grand Prix will bring more than 20 powerboats capable of speeds

of up to 200 miles per hour back to Kentucky for a challenging course

located at Waitsboro Recreation Area, which is just past Traffic Light 29

off U.S. 27 in Somerset.

Kickoff activities on Friday, June 4, will take place at Race Village at

The Center for Rural Development, which will be command central for OSS

racing teams. The teams will set up in the south parking lot there, where

racing fans will be able to visit with drivers, see the boats up close, and

check out the assortment of vendors.

The Center will also serve as the launch location for a "Parade of

Boats" starting at 6 p.m. that evening, during which racing teams will form

a caravan of boats that will travel up U.S. 27 in Somerset before returning

to Race Village.

At 7 p.m. that evening following the Parade of Boats, Race Village will

host a free southern rock concert by the Honeytribe, a band fronted by Devon

Allman, son of legendary singer/songwriter Gregg Allman of the Allman

Brothers Band.

Volunteers and vendors are encouraged to visit the 2010 Lake Cumberland

Grand Prix Web site at www.lakecumberlandgrandprix.com to fill out online

participation forms, or contact the Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of

Commerce at 606-679-7323 to sign up for service opportunities and register
