County employees will continue to be covered by United Healthcare for the next and their coverage will not change, following a decision made by Wayne County Fiscal Court on Wednesday, June 5.
The court met and approved Crabtree-Wilson Energy Group as the
health insurance provider for the county for the next fiscal year.
Four companies provided proposals for insurance coverage for the county.
Wayne County Judge-Executive Mike Anderson said that the court
looked at several different factors, including the services provided
by the company as well as coverage provided and the costs.
Based on those factors, he recommended that the fiscal court approve
Crabtree Wilson Energy Group.
There will be no cost increase to the county this year, noted
Anderson. He said that originally, a four percent increase for health
insurance had been included in the budget process. But since the
price will not change that will translate into a $40,000 cost
adjustment—a savings from the preliminary estimate.
The court unanimously approved Anderson's recommendation.
