With about 24 hours left before the filing deadline, only one local candidate had declared their intentions to seek the city council seat that will be on the ballot this fall.

At press time, Lana Hoskins was the only candidate who has filed for
the special election to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation
of Scott Flynn. Flynn moved out of the city earlier this year and had
to vacate the position.
The council appointed Scott Gehring to serve on the council in the
interim. His appointment is effective until the day after the general
election in November.
The candidate who wins the special election for council this fall
will serve the remainder of Flynn's term through the end of December
2020.
The filing deadline for the special election was June 4 at 4 p.m.
Check next week's Outlook to see if any other candidates have joined the race.
