Monticello School Board discusses drug screening policy
SYLVIA MCGINNIS
News Reporter

Members of Monticello Independent Board of Education continue to look into the possibility of implementing a drug screening policy in the school system.

Board members discussed the matter extensively during their meeting Monday evening, October 18, seeking input from Maryellen Mynear, staff attorney with KSBA, and Steve Wilson, policy consultant with KSBA.

The legality of a drug screening policy has been one of the primary concerns of the board members ever since this issue was brought before them last month. They decided at last month’s meeting to table the matter until they could talk with a representative of the KSBA about the legality of a drug screening policy.
