Burris is charged with theft by unlawful taking

Break-ins to several vehicles were reported Wednesday, November 3, and

Monticello Police have arrested a local man in connection with the

incidents.

Travis Burris, 18, has been charged with two counts of theft by unlawful

taking over $300, four counts of theft by unlawful taking under $300 and two

counts of criminal mischief.

The arrest came after police investigated seven different complaints of

vehicles that were broken into. Thefts were reported from the Anchor Motel,

Tennessee Street, and Kentucky Avenue in Monticello. Property reported

stolen included money, CD¹s, binoculars, flashlights, a camera and a stereo.

Police say that most of the stolen property has been recovered and

returned to the victims. Burris was lodged in the Wayne County Detention

Center.
