Two men sought in armed robbery Melodie Phelps News Editor Police are looking for two men who robbed a local store at gunpoint Friday evening and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The robbery occurred Friday evening just before 7 p.m. at Southcreek Mini Mart, according to Monticello Police Detective Sheridan Wright. Wright said two men entered the store and held up the clerk at gunpoint. Both men were likely armed, but the taller of the two, who was described as being 5’10 to 6’ tall and with a slimmer build, apparently pointed his weapon and asked for the money. The other man is described as being 5’6 to 5’8 with a stockier build. Both were wearing hooded black sweatshirts and had bandanas on their faces. No other description was available. Wright indicated they could be anywhere from their late teens to early 30’s. The men fled from the store on foot, according to Wright. Wright said his department has received a few tips, but at this point they have no concrete leads. Anyone with information should contact the Monticello Police Department at (606) 348-9313.
