Candlelight vigil planned for local Battery C members
Melodie Phelps
News Editor

Plans are underway for a candlelight vigil on Sunday, January 23 for

members of Battery C, the day the unit is scheduled to fly out of Fort Dix,

New Jersey as they deploy to Iraq.

Members of the Family Support Group for Battery C discussed plans for

the vigil during a recent meeting. It will be held at the National Guard

Armory at 6:30 p.m., and support group members are hoping that since it is

on a Sunday evening, churches around the community will participate.

Everyone is invited to attend the vigil and should bring their own

candle. A specific program for the ceremony is currently being planned and

more information will be announced later.

Anyone who is participating in the Adopt-A-Soldier program for members

of Battery C are reminded that monthly packages should be dropped off at the

National Guard Armory on the second Monday of each month. Packages must

first be taken to the post office for postage to be paid.

At this point, the Family Support Group may delay sending packages to

members of the unit until after they are deployed.

The Family Support Group is scheduled to meet again on Sunday, February

20 at 2 p.m. at the Armory.
