The county approved a new one-year lease agreement for the building
currently being used by the Wayne County EMS. The action was taken during a
meeting of Wayne County Fiscal Court on Thursday, February 10.
County Attorney Lee Tobbe said the new lease agreement was drawn up
after negotiations between EMS and the owner of the building, which is
located on Main Street. Tobbe noted there is a slight increase in the
monthly rent.
The lease is for a one-year period and there is an option to renew it an
additional year, according to County Judge-Executive Bruce Ramsey.
During Thursdayıs meeting, the court opened the only bid received for
cleanup of the dump site on Ritner Road. Junior New Construction bid $23,800

The state provided up to $27,225 in funding to clean up the illegal dump
site.
Bids were also awarded for culverts for the month. Bids were opened
earlier in the day, and were received from three companies. As in the past
few months, the court approved all bids with the stipulation that culverts
be purchased at the lowest bid if available.
Solid Waste Coordinator Andrew Parmley announced that the Commonwealth
Cleanup and the PRIDE Spring Cleanup will begin locally on March 14 and will
continue through April 24. This will give local residents the opportunity to
get rid of large household items free of charge during this effort.
He said that anyone who would like to participate should call beginning
March 1 to schedule a pickup of items. Calls will not be taken after March
15, according to Parmley. Following are numbers to call as of March 1 for

tires that need to be disposed to get them ready to drop off during Tire
Amnesty, May 12-14.
During this three-day period, tires may be dropped off at the State
Highway Garage on Old KY 90.

of November.

in the Gap of the Ridge area, and he said the cleanup effort would continue
as weather permits.
He expressed appreciation to Dewayne Perkins and the Wayne County EMS

training is required every two years, according to Upchurch. He added that
first aid training will be scheduled soon.
