The Monticello Lady Trojans followed up a solid performance against

Lincoln County on Monday night with an even better game against Berea on

Tuesday night. The homestanding Lady Trojans took a 71-53 win in what Coach

Marla Kelsch called another complete game.

The shots were falling for the Lady Trojans all night long. They shot 49

percent from the floor overall and hit 7 3-pointers. Rachel Bristow, who

tied her career high with 29 points, hit 5 of those from behind the arc.

³Rachel shot the ball real well,² said Kelsch.

Bristow hit 62.5 percent from behind the arc and 66 percent overall on

the night.

Several other Lady Trojans were also enjoying a good offensive effort.

Sierra Adams scored 23 points on the night and shot 50 percent from the

floor.

Besides putting it in the basket, the Lady Trojans played well

defensively, and they committed only 11 turnovers for the contest. The team

didn¹t have any turnovers in the first quarter.

³Again we played four quarters,² noted Kelsch.

Monticello jumped out to the early advantage behind 3 3-pointers from

Bristow. The homestanding Lady Trojans led 19-7 at the first stop. Berea

sliced two points off the advantage in the fourth quarter and it was a 38-28

Monticello lead at the half.

Bristow scored 8 points in the third quarter, as Monticello pushed ahead

to a 56-41 lead. The fourth quarter belonged to Adams, as she scored 11 of

her 23 points.

Adams and Bristow were both knocking them down from the charity stripe

as well. Adams hit 8 of 10 free throws, while Bristow was 4 of 5 for the

game. As a team, Monticello shot 14 of 21 from the free throw line for 67

percent.

Monticello had 11 assists in the game, with Brittany Carrender leading

the way with 9.
