First Circuit criminal trial held in new Justice Center

A local man was found guilty of assault first degree, following the

first circuit court criminal trial that was held in the new Justice Center.

A jury returned a guilty verdict against Robert Gilreath on Monday, April 4,

according to Commonwealth Attorney Larry Rogers.

The jury recommended a sentence of 20 years for Gilreath. Rogers noted

that because this offense is pursuant to the violent offender statute,

Gilreath must serve 85 percent of the sentence before being eligible for

parole.

Gilreath was charged in connection with the October 15, 2003 stabbing of

Gary Branscum.
