BRO. HAROLD POWELL July 13, 1925-Apr. 20, 2005 Bro. Harold Powell, age 79, of Monticello, Ky. passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at the Wayne County Hospital. He was born July 13, 1925, the son of the late Henry James and Lillie Barnett Powell. On September 27, 1947, he married Ruth Roberts Powell, who survives. He is also survived by one daughter-Sharon Bertram; two sisters-Geneva Ruff of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Anna Ruth Anderson of Cynthiana, Ky.; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one sister-Louise Waechter; and three brothers-Claude, Ovid and Kenneth Powell. He was a World War II Veteran where he served in the Pacific Theater of battle in the Marines. On January 21, 1962 he was ordained into the ministry at Sandusky Chapel Baptist Church, his first pastorate. He served the Lord as pastor in several Baptist churches in Wayne, Clinton and Pulaski counties. He was a faithful member of the Monticello First Baptist Church at the time of his passing. Funeral services were held Friday, April 22, 2005 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Coy Webb and Dennis Wheeler officiating. Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery. Military honors were presented by the United States Marine Corps. Hickey and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Add a comment |
