ROSA ETHEL HURT SHARPE Dec. 15, 1917-May 15, 2005 Rosa Ethel Hurt Sharpe, age 87, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2005 at the Britthaven Nursing Home in Somerset, Ky. She was born December 15, 1917 in the Mt. Pisgah community of Wayne County, the daughter of the late Matthew Franklin and Lola Ethel Dobbs Hurt. On November 21, 1947, she married Sterlie Henderson Sharpe, who preceded her in death on February 7, 1995. She is survived by two daughters-Wilma Burnett and Janice Barnett; one sister-Dosha Hurt Blevins; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her son-Kelly Lynn Sharpe, who passed away July 7, 1976; one sister-Evelyn Thompson Rhea; and four brothers-Marion, Alonzo, Delphyn, and Matthew Hurt, Jr. The Sharpe family operated a store and was postmaster of Mt. Pisgah for many years. In August of 1931, she accepted Christ as her Savior and became a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She was a member of the Monticello Baptist Tabernacle at the time of her passing. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 18, 2005 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Dewey Burks and Bro. Cecil Hurt officiating. Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery. Hoyt G. Hickey and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Add a comment |
