Man killed in one-vehicle accident

A Somerset man died Saturday afternoon, following a one-vehicle accident

in rural Wayne County.

Hobart L. Roberts, 81, of Patterson Branch Road in Somerset, died at the

Wayne County Emergency Room, according to Deputy Wayne Conn who investigated

the accident. His wife, Elva Roberts, 82, was airlifted from the scene by

Air Evac. She was listed in stable condition Monday.

Roberts was traveling north on Lower Turkey Creek Road when he

apparently lost control of his 1999 Toyota Tacoma. The vehicle left the

roadway and went over an embankment, according to Conn. Conn said the truck

traveled approximately 179 feet into the woods before coming to rest.

A Life Net helicopter was also dispatched to the scene to transport

Hobart Roberts, but because of his cardiac condition he was taken to the

local hospital by Wayne County EMS.

The accident was reported at 12:05 p.m. Saturday.

Also assisting at the scene was the Monticello Fire Department.
