A local man has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a
Monticello convenience store, according to Monticello Police Detective
Sheridan Wright.
Shawn Hill, 19, of Monticello, was charged with robbery first degree. He
was arrested on Tuesday, June 28, following a joint investigation by the
Monticello Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriffıs Department.
The charges stem from the November 12, 2004 armed robbery at Southcreek
Mini Mart. Two men entered the store and held up a clerk at gunpoint. Both
men were wearing hooded dark sweatshirts and had bandanas over their faces.
Police indicated at the time of the incident that both men were likely
armed.
The pair then fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No one was injured in the robbery.
Hill was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
