National Guard Family Support Group to hold "Appreciation Day"
Since the local National Guard unit was mobilized late last year, the
support from the community has been tremendous. Individuals, organizations
and businesses have given money, time and prayers for the local troops who
are serving their country so far from home.
Saturday, the Family Support Group for the National Guard unit would
like to say thank you. They are sponsoring a Community Appreciation Day at
Memorial Park from noon until 4 p.m., and they want everyone to come by and
have a good time.
"We just want to thank the community because everyone has been so
supportive of the families," said Shellie Bertram, with the Family Support
Group. "We just want people to come by and have a good time."
Craft booths, food booths and entertainment are part of the day. Sage
Knoll is scheduled to perform Saturday afternoon.
Also, the National Guard is providing an obstacle course which will be
set up at the park.
Bertram noted there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Anyone who would like more information may contact Bertram at (606)
