Crabtree charged in connection with contraband seized at Detention Center

A local man has been charged in connection with contraband seized at the

Wayne County Detention Center. According to Jailer Ray Upchurch, Willie W.

Crabtree was brought into the Detention Center on Saturday, August 27 at

approximately 9:25 p.m. by Officer Joe Bybee with the Monticello Police

Department.

When deputy jailers searched Crabtree, they discovered a utility

knife-type razor blade hidden in one of his shoes. A further search revealed

six more utility knife-type razor blades hidden in his shoes.

Bybee then charged Crabtree with promoting contraband first degree.

Upchurch noted that anyone promoting contraband at the Wayne County

Detention Center will be prosecuted.
