JOHN W. SIMMONS Feb. 3, 1924-Sept. 5, 2005 John W. Simmons, age 81, of Monticello, passed away September 5, 2005 in Somerset, Ky. He was born February 3, 1924 the son of the late Oscar Simmons and Stella Thurston Simmons. He married Marjorie (Martie) Dupree Simmons who survives. He is survived by two daughters Edmondson of The Villages, Fla.; three grandchildren; one step granddaughter; and one step great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one son Simmons, Jr. (Poss), Robert Simmons (Bob), and Gordon Simmons (Pud) He practiced family medicine in Monticello, Ky. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. His military service included the Army, Air Force, and National Guard. He was a member of the Monticello Masonic Lodge #431 and Oleika Shrine. He was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church with Bro. Mel Gresham and Bro. Danny Wright officiating. Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery Marvin S.
