Items for Hurricane Katrina victims are being collected

Anyone who would like to donate items for victims of Hurricane Katrina

can do so at a couple of local locations.

Wayne County EMS is taking donations of the following items: bars of

soap, baby shampoo, towels, washcloths, toothbrushes, toothpaste, paper

towels, hair brushes, combs, non-aerosol bug spray, menıs and boysı briefs

or boxer shorts, womenıs and girlsı panties, womenıs and girlsı bras,

feminine hygiene products, diapers, baby oil, baby lotion, baby powder and

diaper rash ointment. These items must be new and in their original

packaging.

These items may be dropped off at the Wayne County EMS building on Main

Street at any time.

Wayne County EMS is not collecting food and water, since these items

will be not accepted at their collection center in Corbin.

Anyone who would like to donate water or non-perishable food, as well as

toiletries may drop them off at the trailer parked this week at Mid-America

Realty. The trailer is furnished by Monticello Hardwoods and once it is

filled it will be driven to Tioga, Louisiana, to a campground that is

serving as a Red Cross Shelter.
