Changes to voter registration deadline approaches Melodie Phelps News Editor Voters who want to change their party registration need to keep a few things in mind as the deadline approaches. The actual deadline for the change is December 31 in order to be eligible to cast a vote for that party in the May primary election. But those who plan to make registration changes in person will have to do so by Friday, December 30. County Court Clerk Carol Jones noted that the Wayne County Courthouse will be closed Saturday, December 31 for the New Year's holiday. Also, computers in her office will be down that day as well. Jones noted that voter registration changes may also be mailed to the clerk's office and as long as they are postmarked by December 31, they will also be accepted. Anyone who needs to license a vehicle should do so by Friday, December 30, since computers in the clerk's office will be down until Tuesday, January 3. Voter registration cards may be picked up at the County Court Clerk's Office in the Wayne County Court-house. Anyone who needs more information should call (606) 348-6661. Add a comment |
